Stone lithography

Process, Patience, and Practice.

I began working in stone lithography while studying at the Cleveland Institute of Art. After leaving school, I lost access to a press for many years — a common challenge for printmakers. I eventually found my way back through workshops and community print studios, drawn again to the technical rigor and tactile satisfaction of stone.

Over time I studied with master printer Stephen McKenzie at the Printmaking Council of New Jersey, and later with Devraj Dakoji at the Blackburn Printmaking Workshop in New York. These experiences deepened both my technique and my appreciation for the endurance that lithography demands.

In 2022, I began building a dedicated print studio in Somerville, New Jersey, acquiring my own litho press and stones from The Stark Press Company and printmaker friends. Having my own space allows me to work at a slower rhythm — drawing, etching, and printing at the pace the medium requires.

With the studio now operational, I’m exploring new series that connect my long figure-drawing practice with experimental lithography. The process remains both a discipline and a conversation between hand, stone, and paper.

I also teach introductory and intermediate stone lithography workshops for art centers and community studios. My focus is on making the process approachable—balancing technical accuracy with creative experimentation. For workshop proposals or collaborations, get in touch.
